New Zealand Post Writers and Readers Week
Writers InternationalNew Zealand Post Writers and Readers Week Join us for the opening showcase of New Zealand Post Writers and Readers Week and enjoy a series of readings that will both surprise and delight. Featuring four of the world’s finest writers, this unique event will give you a taste of the literary celebration in store over the coming days. Travel to New York City with American Pulitzer Prize-winner Michael Cunningham; witness the devastating effects of civil war with Somalian exile and Neustadt International Prize Laureate Nuruddin Farah; journey to England’s urban north as the poet Simon Armitage explores contemporary life in all its guises; and discover the Native American reservations of North Dakota so finely imagined by celebrated storyteller Louise Erdrich. This is a great way to begin a week of readings and discussions, challenges and discoveries. Perfect for a stimulating evening, and for those who are unable to attend daytime events, it offers a diverse and exciting selection of our international guests for your listening pleasure. Writers and Readers Committee Chair Dr Lydia Wevers will introduce the evening.
