Lyndall Gordon’s memoir about growing up in South Africa sits beside an outstanding body of literary biography including work on Mary Wollstonecraft, Virginia Woolf and Henry James; Aleksandar Hemon sought political asylum in the US in 1992 when Sarajevo came under siege and is now recognised as one of literature’s brightest stars; Teresia Teaiwa has charted a Pacific trajectory from Honolulu where she was born, to Fiji and New Zealand. Her poetry has been published in print, audio and Internet forms and she was a contributing editor to the Encyclopedia of Post-Colonial Literatures in English. All three will read from their work and discuss the legacy of their cultural origins.
