Ko Tawa

Taonga from our Ancestral Landscapes

An exhibition of the extraordinary taonga gifted to Captain Gilbert Mair during his work with Māori communities in the late 19th century. Ko Tawa unveils treasures of exquisite beauty, each with a unique story to tell. The exhibition includes a cloak evidently worn by Te Kooti and the flute used by Tutanekai to guide Hinemoa to Mokoia Island. Exhibition toured by Auckland Museum and curated by Dr Paul Tapsell.
