"The most
amazing pictures you’ll ever see." Daily Mail, UK
School’s page for Earth from Above exhibitionWe’re very
excited about including this fantastic exhibition in the Victoria University Schoolfest
programme for 2006.
From Science to
Art, English to Social Studies, the possibilities of using Yann
Arthus-Bertrand’s photographs as a catalyst for learning are immense.
The exhibition
consists of 120 large scale photographs taken from above the Earth, as
close as
300m and as far above as 3000m. The 1.8m x 1.2m photos will be erected
in
frames and displayed throughout the new Waitangi Park, down on
Wellington’s waterfront, and will be open to the public and school
groups
from the 24th Feb - 9th April.
Read more about the exhibition on our general Earth from Above page.
School groups can
book to see an introductory video (approx 20 mins long) NB: this video is in French with English subtitles but is
suitable for all ages. Bookings are essential to ensure your class gets the
most from the experience and so that times can work in with other groups visits.
Teachers: there
are a few ways to link this exhibition to the curriculum. See below for a
web-link list of existing environmental education websites with great resources
to assist with you planning. In addition, the Festival has created a worksheet
package for a variety of curriculum areas and strands. (Of course, this
collection is not definitive , but helps to start the ball-rolling in terms of
ways to include Earth from Above in
your terms plan.)

levels.
