About School FestWelcome to Victoria University SchoolFest 2006!The 2004 SchoolFest programme reached over 15,000 students from around New Zealand. Following on from this success, Victoria University SchoolFest 2006 will, once again, bring the world of the arts closer and provide access to top-quality events and unique workshop opportunities at special schools prices. How can you get involved?Schools can access our programme in a number of ways:
From Tan Dun's opera 'Tea', the physical vibrancy of Italian dance company Aterballetto, our inaugural 'New Zealand Post Writers and Readers Schools Day', the engrossing drama of The History Boys and the powerful New Zealand work 'Battalion', students of all ages will have over 50 different opportunities to be inspired, educated and excited by what's on offer. The workshop menu for senior students is a feast; drawing on the 'best in the business' from around the world in such areas as directing, writing, multi-media and dance. For primary schools we have the wacky and seriously funny UK comedian James Campbell's Comedy 4 Kids, prize-winning novelist and picture book author Jan Mark (U.K) and, for Yr 5 upwards, the extremely entertaining Italian guitarist Antonio Forcione and his quartet. The highlight for students of all ages, however, will be free access to our major art exhibition "Earth from Above" - the spectacular landscapes shot by photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand, in huge dimensions and displayed throughout Waitangi Park. The Victoria University SchoolFest programme will be circulated to all schools in the greater Wellington region and beyond in early November. Tickets can only be purchased through schools. Teachers can register here for SchoolFest newsletters and further information about the entire Festival programme.
